Installation

Installation of AIDA – PC Sheets
Sealing Techniques:
One of the main parameters in the installation of AIDA – PC sheets, is the sealing of the sheet edges in order to prevent the entrance of dust and humidity. There are different methods for this purpose, which should be chosen according to the conditions.

A suitable sealing tape should be resistant to weathering agents and keep its strength during application. It should be also resistant to wear and other damages which may occur during the installation process. Application of AntiDUST breather tapes (AD 3429) and AntiDUST blanking tapes (G 3629) is most suggested for AIDA – PC sheets and the gaskets should be based on EPDM rubber.

AIDA – PC multi-wall sheets have wide applications in the construction and decoration industries. In all cases, all the materials which are being used by these sheets, should be tested carefully in order to be sure of their compatibility with the sheets. Most of these materials are gaskets, sealings and detergents. When AIDA – PC sheet is being used in the outdoor condition, care should be taken in order to give enough space for thermal expansion, without making any problem in the frames and structure.

In order to minimize the sealing problems, please note the following items :

  1. Before application of the sealing tape, be sure that the sheet edges are smooth and the corners have curvature
  2. Clean inside the channels with compressed air.
  3. Cover the sealing tapes with suitable profiles.
  4. Sealing tapes should be well and do not have any damage on themselves.
AntiDUST tapes have the following applications :
  1. Places where the dust is too much, for example wood working factories, industrial areas and polluted cities.
  2. Places where humidity is low and the weather is almost dry such as shopping centers and warehouses
  3. Places where there is no big temperature difference between outside and inside
Note : If the sealing is not suitable enough, dust, humidity and insects may enter the channels and cause bubbles and fungous inside it.
Calculation thickness of the sheets:
When the sheet is clamped at four sides, the following table is being used :
"a" : width of the sheet
"b" : length of the sheet

Ratio of sheet width : sheet length
AIDA-PC 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5 1 : > 1.5 1 : 1 1 : 1.5

Loading in N/m2 600 800 1000 1200 1400 1600 1800 2000

For example for a window with the following conditions, 16 mm sheet should be used :
Width : 1100 mm
Length : 3000 mm (a:b = 1 : > 1.5)
Load : 600 N/m2

And for a window with the following conditions, 10 mm sheet should be used :
Width : 800 mm
Length : 1200 mm (a:b = 1 : 1.5)
Load : 1600 N/m2
When the sheet is clamped at two sides, the following table is being used:
"a" : width of the sheet
"b" : length of the sheet
In this case only "a" is the main parameter and any length of the sheet could be taken.

Center to Center distance of the profiles ("a")

Loading  N/m2  600 800 1000 1200 1400 1600 1800 2000

When the sheet is clamped at two sides and the glazing profiles are perpendicular to the sheets channels, the following table should be used:
Center to Center distance of the profiles, perpendicular to the sheet channels
AIDA-PC

6 mm 690 630 590 570 540 520 500 480
8 mm 830 760 720 680 650 630 600 580

In this case, the sheet width can take any amount, even up to 2100 mm.
Installation of the Sheets in Curved Condition:
Foe curved installations; care should be taken to the permitted radius of the sheets. Min. radius of the sheets is determined according to the following table:

AIDA – PC Multi-wall sheet thickness min. radius in mm
6 mm (double-wall) 1050 mm
8 mm (double-wall) 1400 mm
10 mm (double-wall) 1750 mm
16 mm (triple-wall) 2800 mm
20 mm (triple-wall) 3500 mm

In order to determine the suitable thickness of the sheets, according to the loading condition, the following table could be used:
